How would you like to travel, build an exciting career, and make friends, while getting paid to work with phenomenal people? This may seem far-fetched, but that’s my life as a “Traveling Trainer.” On top of that, it fulfills my passion to help others, and offers the variety that I love. For some of you, this is your calling too. Author Marsha Sinetar says, “Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow.” Here are five reasons this is such a great profession:
- You Get to Travel – Like a lot of you, I love traveling. Airport delays and other travel hassles are trivial compared to the cities, people, and culture I experience. Throw in the airline and hotel points I collect for personal use, and it becomes a no-brainer for me.
- Cross Off Bucket List Items – While business trips are not meant for pleasure, I still manage to cross off some places and things on my bucket list without spending my own “dime.” This allows me to travel to places like Alaska on my own, speeding up my bucket list completion.
- Friendships for a Lifetime – This is a tremendous benefit. Many of the people I have met during training events are now friends that I will always have and cherish. I can’t think of a better way to enrich an already full life!
- Influence the Company’s Culture – Yes, that’s right! As a trainer, I take seriously my unspoken role as an ambassador for my company. I impact more than people’s skills. I promote our company culture and help learners refocus on the value our company provides. I also help learners reconnect with how essential they are to our success.
- Phenomenal People, Helping Each Other – Trainers by nature have a desire to help others. I trained for a Fortune 100 and 500 company and all my peers were exceptional. In both cases, they were “over the top” when it comes to pulling together to make the team successful. A delightful environment indeed.
So, if you think training is in your heart, I urge you to consider a “Traveling Trainer” as a profession. I put it off for years, thinking there’s no way I can be on the road 75 percent of the time. But once I experienced it, I became hooked like many of my friends. Happy travels!
