Travel can be exciting and fun but there are times during a vacation when you just want to sit and relax. Most knitters find that knitting is relaxing especially when they have a project that they are familiar with.

Knitting can get tangled so make sure you have a sealed container for your knitting when you are traveling. A small project can fit into your purse and you will have it with you all the time. It is best to take a small project when you travel because space is always an issue. Baby booties, children’s socks and wash clothes are ideas for small projects to take with you as you travel.

You may be working on a big project that you do not want to leave at home. You can still take it along provided you have room for it. Plastic bags are not a recommended container for your knitting since they can snag or tear leaving you with an unprotected project. A nice cloth bag that closes is a good way to travel with a larger knitting project. Make sure your project will fit into the bag all the way so you can close up the bag when you are not using the knitting.

A basket with a top is also a good way to take along your knitting projects. The basket looks nice so if you are traveling to a place where your project will be seen by others this may be the best solution to carry your knitting projects with you.

When you travel you need to take only what you are working on. Do not take any extra needles or other equipment that you will not need on the trip. You want to keep it simple so take only what you need to work on the project.

You can also carry your crocheting or any other hobby in a closed container. Like needlepoint, embroidery and other sewing projects. My son even took a painting set on a trip in a plane once. We placed it in a separate container that went into his suit case and just in case the paints leaked out we made sure it was a waterproof container.

Taking projects like Knitting along on a trip can help keep you occupied during the times when you are relaxing. If you decided to take along your knitting don’t be disappointed if you do not get a chance to work on it. You are on vacation and should be experiencing other things. You can knit at home when you are not on vacation.
