With increased security surrounding airports all bags, etc. must be checked. You don’t want to waste time by having to check bags full of items you didn’t really need to bring in the first place. Here are some tips to help you pack the next time you get ready to travel via airplane:
- Find clothes you can mix and match.
This way you are not wearing the same thing everyday, but can cut down on the number of outfits you need to bring in a suitcase. You would be surprised how many outfits you can make out of a couple pairs of pants, tops, and jackets. Also make sure your clothes are appropriate for the weather you will be encountering. Example: I live in New Jersey, which is freezing in January. I went to Florida to visit my mom and it was 80 degrees. I hadn’t brought enough summer type clothing and had to go purchase some. - Place toiletries in a clear plastic Ziploc bag.
All toiletries must go through the x-ray machines and will be checked by the inspector. You are also required to keep these items in 3-oz containers. If you have any questions about these rules contact your local airlines ahead of time so your bags are packed properly. You don’t want them to toss out your products because then you will have to buy more when you get to your destination. - Wear plastic jewelry instead of metal when traveling.
Metal jewelry will set off the metal detectors at each airport security checkpoint. This will cause unnecessary delays. - Pack pajamas and work out clothes in the bottom of your suitcase.
This will keep your important clothes toward the top with less chance of getting wrinkled. You can even roll up your pjs and work out clothes if you want. - Make a copy of all Id’s or passports.
To be safe make a copy of all Id’s and passports and keep them in separate bags. The first set should be in your purse or wallet. The second set can be in any of your luggage bags. It will only take a minute to do and can be a life savor should your information go missing. - Bring only the essentials.
Go through your bag and take out what isn’t a necessity. Remember your objective is to get through airport security as quick as possible. If everyone followed theses tips traffic would move along smoothly and the lines wouldn’t be as long.
